Poland Arrests Teens Over School Attack Threats

Polish police have arrested several teenagers over threats linked to school attacks, as fears spread online about a rumoured “Bloody Friday” challenge. Authorities said investigations had found no evidence of a coordinated online challenge, despite widespread speculation following two school stabbing incidents within two days.

Police detained at least 10 people, mainly for making threats online. Those arrested included a 13-year-old who allegedly shared a knife photo and threatened classmates, a 14-year-old found with a knife and firecrackers on school grounds, and two 15-year-olds who posted a video threatening to kill. Police have been deployed to around 10,000 schools nationwide as authorities work to reassure students and prevent further incidents.

The arrests followed a deadly attack on Thursday at a primary school in Leszczydol-Nowiny, where a 15-year-old former pupil killed one employee and injured two others. A day earlier, a 19-year-old wounded 10 people, including himself, in a knife attack at a school in Ostroleka. Polish officials have warned against spreading misinformation, while cybercrime investigators are examining social media content reportedly linked to the latest attack.
