Zuckerberg Donates €150,000 to Irish GAA Clubs

Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, are donating a combined €150,000 to three Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) clubs near their newly purchased Strancally Castle in County Waterford, Ireland. Shamrocks GAA, Tallow GAA and Lismore GAA will each receive €50,000, with the donations paid over two years.

The couple said they recognise the important role the GAA plays in local Irish communities and wanted to support the clubs as new members of the area. The clubs said the donation came as a surprise but was warmly welcomed. Tallow GAA plans to invest in youth and adult teams, coaching and accessibility improvements, while Shamrocks hopes to upgrade changing rooms and its underage section.

Lismore GAA is also planning to use the funding for projects including floodlighting, pitch-side fencing and a community walkway. Club representatives said fundraising can be difficult for smaller organisations, making the donation particularly significant for their local programmes and facilities.
