Maia Sandu, the opposition candidate, has defeated Igor Dodon, the incumbent President, in the Moldovan Election.

The winner has secured as many as 57.7 per cent vote. At the same time, her opponent, Mr. Dodon failed to wrist more than 42.2 per cent vote.

The contest, though was between Ms. Sandu and Mr. Dodon, was actually between the European Union and the EU rebel of Russia.

The winner is a pro-European candidate. The looser is a pro-Russian candidate. The result implies that the country in the near future may move close to the faction led by France and Germany away from the one led by Russia.

Ms. Sandu, who is 48-year old financial expert, is a former World Bank economist.

As soon as the initial trend has become out, the opposition has gone to a celebration mood.

The final result is expected to be released in the near future itself.

It is clear that the final result will be a big blow to the faction led by Russia and may reduce the influence of the European rebel in the region where the former Soviet satellite is located.

The United Nations has called for urgent intervention of the concerned to protect those who have been trapped in the conflict hit regions in the African country of Mozambique.

The Cabo Delgado province in Mozambique has been captured by Islamist militants. Beheadings and kidnappings have been reported from the region.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, has warned that the population was in a desperate situation.

As per the statement made by the official, those who have been trapped in conflict-affected areas have barely any means of survival.

The officer has called on the Mozambican government to guarantee unhindered access for humanitarian agencies.

As many as 3,50,000 people have been displaced due to the conflict since the day the conflict broke out in the region.

It was at least three years before the conflict broke out.

The local population is desperately leaving the region for safer destinations. Around 14,000 people have fled by sea to the provincial capital, Pemba, so far.

Protesters have demanded the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for his decision to reach a deal to end the fighting with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Armenian PM has ignored an ultimatum by protesters.

The Armenian parliament is likely to hold an emergency session over the matter in the near future itself.

It is said that the deal has been reached at the behest of the European superpower of Russia.

 The deal permits Azerbaijan to keep the areas it has captured during its battle with Armenia.

Russia has deployed hundreds of peacekeepers in the disputed region.

The disputed region is actually a part of Azerbaijan. The region is at present controlled by the ethnic groups of Armenia.  

Turkey has joined hand with Russia to monitor the proper implementation of the agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia at the behest of Turkey and Russia.

Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of the North American country of Canada, has expressed solidarity with the people of France, which suffered a terrible terror attack in the recent past.

The Canadian Prime Minister has spoken to his French counterpart, President Emanuel Macron, in connection with the matter. He has expressed his country’s support.

French recently faced severe criticism from the Arab world as it pledged its support to the right to caricature.

The recent terror attack has a connection to the right to caricature. It was to suppress the right to caricature that the attack was carried out.

Certain countries in the Arab world such as Turkey even directed its citizens to boycott goods produced in France.

The support France has been offered by the North American superpower of Canada is thus very crucial.

What the latest development indicates that like the Arab world has united against the right to caricature the liberal west has united for the right.

It seems that the development may create a huge rift between the liberal world and the conservative world.

The attitude of the superpowers towards this issue is crucial. It is the one which can determine the course of the present development.

The European country of Austria has admitted that it failed to follow up the warning given by Slovakia over the gunman who carried out a deadly terror attack in the city of Vienna.

The attack left as many as four people killed. It also left more than 23 people injured. The brutal attack occurred on Monday.

The attacker was killed few minutes after he had carried out the attack in the city of Vienna.

As per a statement released by Slovenia police, days before the gunman carried out the attack, he had travelled to Slovenia to purchase a gun.

According to the statement, he returned to Austria emptyhanded from the country as he could not purchase a weapon from the country.

Slovenia has strict gun laws.   

The gunman was just 20 years old.

The attack which took place in the city of Vienna was the most serious attack the city witnessed in recent past.

The European country of Sweden, which once opted out from imposing severe restrictions, has introduced certain strict restrictions to curb the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.

The country has brought in certain important restrictions in the area of dining in restaurants.

Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven has recently admitted that there was something to be worried about.

The country has witnessed as many as 31 deaths in the last few days. The total death toll has crossed around 5,969.

Sweden is one of the few countries which has never imposed a severe lockdown. When most of its neighbors adopted strict lockdown measures, Sweden opted not to impose strict measures.   

The recent development indicates that the Swedish government is planning to make a U-turn on its policy regarding the lockdown restriction.

The new restriction measures will bring a considerable change in the way people of the country use its public transport and non-essential shopping.

At preset at least 70 per cent of the total region of the country is under some kind of restriction.

The government has recently brought in Halland, Orebro and Jonkoping.

The European country of France, which recently opened a word war with another European country of Turkey over the matter of the right of caricature, is planning to ban Grey Wolves, a far-right Turkey organisation.

The proposed ban means the organisation will not be able to function in the country in the future.

The ban is not capable to stop the functioning of the organisation completely. Grey Wolves is an International organisation, the said ban is only applicable to the operation of the organisation inside the boundary of France.

The proposal seeking the ban has been placed before the discussion table of the French government after the involvement of the organisation in the defacing of an Armenian genocide statue was found.

Turkey has not yet responded to the decision yet.

Anyway, the French government is likely to place the matter before the cabinet in the near future itself.

The Armenia-Azerbaijan crisis have deeply divided the European world, with Azerbaijan supporters like Turkey in one end and Armenian supporters such as Russia in the other.

The latest development is also a part of this crisis, undoubtedly.

It is yet to be seen how the European world will handle the crisis. It is important to find a solution to this issue in the near future itself.

Vladimir Marugov, who owns a wealthy meat processing company, has been murdered by two unidentified youngsters.

The reason that led to the killing is unknown at this moment. An investigation is on. Police has booked one of the two who have committed the crime.

The girlfriend of the victim has narrowly escaped the attack. She is the one who has contacted the police at first.

The businessman has been in his countryside estate with his partner, when he has been attacked by the unidentified people.

Local reports suggest that it has been a robbery attempt. The investigation team anyway will verify all possibilities.

It seems that misfortune is following the family of Mr. Marugov.

Last year, Alexander, the son of the businessman, was killed in a road accident in the Russian capital of Moscow.

Acclaimed journalist Robert Fisk, who is known for his war-zone reporting, has passed away. Though the exact reason behind his death is unknown at this juncture, local reports say that he has died of a suspected stroke.

Mr. Fisk was nearly 74-year-old. His journalist career began during the 1970s. During the peak of his career, he was reporting for several mainstream media houses based in the UK.

He was popular for his anti-west attitude. He criticised the western foreign policy. He denounced the way the west and Israel handled the Middle East crisis.

He was the recipient of several prestigious awards and honours. He was referred as the most prominent foreign affairs journalist of this generation.

A day before he has surrendered to his final destiny, he was admitted to a hospital in Dublin as he felt some uneasiness.

He has died shortly after he was admitted to the hospital.

Several renowned personalities, including Irish President Michael D Higgins, has expressed his sadness about the death of the quintessential journalist.

Severe protests have been organised in numerous Muslim countries across the world, in protest against French President Emanuel Macron’s statement that he will do everything possible to protest the right to caricature.

The French President’s statement came in response to a brutal attack in which a teacher was brutally killed after he had showed an extremely liberal caricature.

It was Turkey that came with a strong statement against France at first. Turkey even advised its citizens to boycott goods produced in France.

The anti-France protests have happened in almost every prominent Muslim country. The protests have been organised even in some liberal Muslim countries. In certain conservative Muslim countries such as Pakistan, the protests have turned violent. In Pakistan, the protesters have even tried to march towards the French Embassy situated in Islamabad. As many as 2000 people have participated in the protest that has been organised near the French Embassy in Pakistan. The protesters have confronted the police, and the latter have used force against the former to disperse them.

Similar protests have occurred in Palestine and Bangladesh.

Anyway, it is less likely that France reverses its decision to protest the right to caricature.
