Macklemore Opens ‘Free Palestine’ Tour in Dublin

American rapper Macklemore launched his “Free Palestine” concert tour in Dublin on October 26, pledging to continue speaking out against Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. The Grammy-winning artist received a loud welcome from fans carrying Palestinian flags and wearing keffiyeh scarves. The tour follows his removal as an opening act for Ed Sheeran’s US concerts after his pro-Palestinian remarks.

During the performance, Macklemore expressed solidarity with Palestinians and vowed to continue advocating for their freedom. The crowd repeatedly chanted “Free Free Palestine” throughout the show, with all 13,000 tickets for Dublin’s 3Arena reportedly selling out within minutes. He also criticised attempts to silence pro-Palestinian voices, arguing that calls for freedom had become controversial amid the suffering in Gaza.

Several artists and activists joined the event in support, including Hozier, Kneecap, Beoga, Palestinian singer Lina Makhoul and Palestinian American DJ Habibeats. The tour is scheduled to continue in Paris and London this week, with US dates expected to be announced later. The conflict in Gaza remains deeply contentious, with Palestinian authorities reporting more than 74,000 deaths and Israeli officials denying that their actions amount to genocide.
