The centre of the controversy is the selection of controversial director Roman Polanski as the best director in the award function.

Several actresses, who have attended the function, have walked out from the function as soon as the best director award has been announced.

A film about the Dreyfus affair in the 19th century France, An Officer and A Spy, has received as many as twelve nominations.

The award winning director is a rape convict. He was convicted of the statutory rape of a minor in the year 1977. He fled the United States after the conviction.

Former French Prime Minister Francois Fillon and his wife, Penelope, are set to appear in a French court in the infamous PenelopeGate case, which exposes how the former PM’s wife benefitted from the public fund with the support of her husband.

The allegation against the centre-rightist leader is that he helped his wife, who was then his parliamentary secretary, draw fund from the public fund for the work she had not done.

Actually, the allegation costs Mr. Fillon his presidential post. He was the frontrunner in the previous French presidential election. He was a very popular leader in the country.

It was the allegation which resulted to his defeat to centrist politician Emanuel Macron.

If the former Prime Minister is found guilty, he will face a tough jail punishment of around ten years imprisonment.

The said trial is likely to end in mid March.

A leaked video has spoiled the political career of Benjamin Griveaux, who is considered as a close ally of French President Emanuel Macron.

He was the candidate of Macron’s party for the Paris mayor election. He was one of the top three hopefuls.

Mr. Griveaux has expressed his sadness about the leakage of the video.

Interestingly, highlighting the importance of the separation of politics from personal life, many French politicians have supported the tainted politician. They have unanimously appealed against the Americanisation of the French politics.

The French politics is different from the American one. It favours the separation of politics from personal life, unlike the United States.

Anyway, the development is a major blow to Mr. Macron. The French President’s party has suffered several backlashes recently, from the reduction of its strength in the parliament to the losses it has faced in the recent elections.

Though these blows are not strong enough to disturb the continuation of Mr. Macron as the President of the country immediately, it may impact his position in the long run.

Meanwhile, there is a different side also. The ruling party, if work rightly, can utilise the emotion, generated against the Americanisation of the French politics, in its favour to gain a political mileage from the development.

The victims of the Nazi invasion and several world leaders have gathered in Auschwitz to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the prisons from the deathly concentration camp set up by the Nazi and its collaborators in the Polish city.

In a function organised to mark the 75th anniversary, French President Emanuel Macron has expressed his concern about the re-emergence of the anti-Semitism in the west.

He has called the re-emergence as the problem of the Europe. And, he has denounced the projection of the issue as the concern of the Jewish community alone.

He has remembered those who were deported from his country to the death camp located in Poland.

Several Nazi camp survivors from across the world have attended the function. Some of them have shared how horrific their experience in the camp was.

The once known by the name ‘Auschwitz Concentration Camp is the most brutal death camp run by the Nazi and its collaborators in the European country of Poland.

Around 1.1 million people, mostly Jews, were killed in the death camp. Notably, there were only around 1.3 million people in the camp.

The said figure clearly shows how horrific the life in the camp was.

French President Emanuel Macron has scolded the Israel police as they have provocatively accompanied the President to a church, which falls under the French territory.

The church, situated in Israel, was gifted to the Ottoman Empire to France for the latter’s support in a war.

The action resembles the one happened during the visit of former French President Jacques Chirac. During the visit of Mr. Chirac in the year 1996, the Israel police provocatively shoved the Palestinians, journalists and his aides who accompanied him to the church.

Then, in order to deescalate the tension, the Israel government apologised to the French government, saying that their intention was to protect a friend.

The Israel government has not yet responded to the latest incident.

Mr. Macron is in Palestine to attend a function hosted by a Jewish organisation to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.

At this moment, it remains unclear whether the incident will affect the relation between Israel and France.

It is a well-known truth that Israel aims to establish its dominance over the entire of Jerusalem.

It is yet to be ascertained whether the action of the Israel police has anything to do with the said mindset of the country.

A French book linked the infamous 11 September 2001 terrorist attack on the United States to the Central Intelligence Agency, the intelligence agency controlled by the US federal government.

The publisher has later apologised for his mistake. The publisher has admitted the phrase that links the CIA to the 9/11 as a mistake.

The phrase is going viral in social media. It has come to the attention of the public after it was pointed out by certain school teachers based in the country.

The theory that links the Central Intelligence Agency to the 9/11 attack is a debunked conspiracy theory.

The book is supposed to be learned by undergraduates. The publisher is yet to explain how such a serious error occurred in the book.

The US has not yet formally commended about the issue. The CIA is likely to strongly denounce the phrase appeared in the French history textbook. Definitely, for an agency like the CIA which dedicatedly works for the betterment of the US, what was appeared in the textbook is a humiliating phrase.

At this moment, it remains unclear whether the publisher will take any step to remove the books which carry the wrong phrase entirely from the market. A strong demand is likely to rise from the US towards that direction.

In the crucial meeting, Volodymyr Zelensky has represented Ukraine and Vladimir Putin his country, Russia.

The meeting has been mediated by France and Germany. Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron have represented their countries respectively.

Moscow and Kyiv have also decided to swap all those who have been booked in connection with the military action in the eastern region of Ukraine.

Despite all these, the meeting has remained silent on some of the very sensitive issues, like the Ukraine’s longstanding demand of making the eastern region of the country free from the clutches of Russia.

Ukraine has also refused to comment on the Russian demand that a key rebel held territory in the eastern region of Ukraine should be declared as a special territory. In the second day of the strike also, the public life has been hugely disrupted in the European country of France.

The strike, which began last day by workers against the pension reforms introduced by President Emanuel Macron, is expected to last at least till Monday.

A prominent workers’ organisation has acknowledged the rumour that the strength of the strike will remain unchanged until Monday.

The ongoing strike has badly disrupted the transport facilities in the country. The strike has literally put the country in the state of complete lockdown.

The strike is a big blow to Mr. Macron. What it mocks is the reformer image of the present French President.

Some workers’ unions are likely to meet today to decide their future course of action.

Last day, in several cities in the country, the strike has turned violent.

Meanwhile, there are rumours that an effort is on to bring the agitated unions to a discussion table with the country’s government.

The ongoing protest is expected to make a serious dent on the effort of Mr. Macron to emerge as the saviour of Europe.

The strength of a leader is the support he/she enjoys in his homeland. The moment he loses that his future as a leader is over.

A nationwide strike, organised by workers who are unhappy with Emanuel Macron’s pension reforms, have almost completely frozen the European country of France.

Along with transport workers, even police, lawyers and hospital and airport staffs have come out in support of the strike.

The strike has badly affected the transportation system in the country. Several flights have been cancelled. The rail transport has cut down its number of services. The road transport is almost completely in a standstill state.

The present strike is the most serious strike the European country of France has witnessed in its recent history.

Mr. Macron, who came to power as a solution to the problems the French people face, is now largely unpopular in the country.

The anti-establishment wave, which helped Mr. Macron to march to power, is at present against him.

Most of his reforms have ended up against the interest of the people of the country. The controversial pension reform is one of them.

If the things progress in this manner, the wave that helped him to win the power of the country itself will push him down from the seat of power.

What Mr. Macron represents at present is failed populism. The rest of the Europe has a lesson in the French experience.

A new statement made by France President Emanuel Macron clearly indicates that the European country of France is unhappy with the protectionist attitude of the United States of America.

As the NATO members are at the doorstep of a crucial meeting, the statement made by France is of great importance.

Beneath the statement lies a clear message that France no longer trusts the security offered by the US.

Its advice for Europe is crystal clear. It wants to see a European army formed, against the interest of the NATO leader.

The root of the crisis lies in the disinterest of the US to use its money for the betterment of the NATO and to engage more with its NATO allies.

The change of attitude was evident when the US reduced its spending on the NATO budget imposing pressure on its allies to spend more on the said budget and when it decided to pull out its force from Syria, paving way for the aggression of Turkey, without discussing the decision with its NATO partners.

Though Germany’s decision on this matter is not different, it is not that adamant as that of its neighbour.

Undisputedly, a European army is a German dream too.

From an aggressive China and an unpredictable Russia to a protective US, Germany and France are no short of reason for the consideration of their dream plan.
