Egypt’s President, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, has urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to renew the grain export deal with Ukraine during a summit hosted by Russia.

Al-Sisi emphasized the importance of reviving the deal and finding a swift solution to supply the poorest African countries with grain. Russia had withdrawn from the agreement and subsequently bombed Ukrainian Black Sea ports. In response, Putin blamed the West for failing to fulfill its obligations under the deal and offered to provide Russian grain for free to six African countries.

These countries include Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, Central African Republic, and Eritrea, except Somalia, which is experiencing a severe humanitarian crisis. The summit also saw African leaders urging Putin to consider a peace plan proposed by them to end the war caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The plan calls for recognizing the sovereignty of both Russia and Ukraine, conducting urgent peace talks, and ensuring uninterrupted grain exports. The blockade of Ukrainian Black Sea ports following the invasion caused a significant amount of grain to be trapped, leading to a surge in world food prices and potential shortages in Middle Eastern and African nations that heavily relied on food imports from Ukraine.

The grain export deal was initially brokered by Turkey and the UN in July 2022, allowing cargo ships to access a designated corridor in the Black Sea for transportation. Ukraine is a major global supplier of crops such as sunflower oil, barley, maize, and wheat.

Human remains discovered on a glacier near the Matterhorn in Switzerland have been identified as the body of a German climber who had been missing since 1986. The finding is one of several long-held secrets revealed by the melting Alpine glaciers, which are shrinking rapidly due to climate change.

The Theodul glacier, where the body was found, has experienced a significant retreat in recent years. This glacier is part of Zermatt’s renowned year-round ski region, the highest in Europe. However, global warming has caused the alpine ice fields to be particularly vulnerable. As a result, various objects and remains, lost for decades, have emerged from the melting ice in recent years.

Such discoveries have included a crashed plane from 1968 and the remains of missing climbers from past decades. Furthermore, the melting ice has even led to changes in international borders between Switzerland and Italy, with the shifting position of the drainage divide.

The consequences of the glacier melt extend beyond the discovery of historical artifacts and climbers; these glaciers are vital to Europe’s environment, providing essential water sources for rivers like the Rhine and Danube, and helping maintain aquatic ecosystems. Unfortunately, the rapid rate of ice retreat observed by experts indicates that most Alpine glaciers could vanish by the end of the century. As global temperatures continue to rise, the fear of further ice loss and its far-reaching impacts on the environment persists.

On Wednesday, Kim Jong Un showcased North Korea’s latest weaponry to Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu during a visit to Pyongyang. The Russian delegation, along with Chinese officials, was invited to attend the 70th-anniversary celebrations of the Korean War armistice, which typically includes massive military parades.

Among the weapons displayed was the Hwasong intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), which was successfully tested in April. It is believed to be North Korea’s first ICBM using solid propellants, making it quicker to launch than liquid-fueled ones. Additionally, two new drone designs were shown, with one resembling a primary offensive strike drone used by the US Air Force, according to NK News.

During the visit, discussions between Kim Jong Un and Sergei Shoigu covered matters of mutual concern in the fields of national defense and international security.

This marks the first time Kim Jong Un has welcomed foreign guests since the Covid pandemic began, indicating a possible loosening of Covid restrictions in North Korea. The visit by Chinese and Russian envoys to the Victory Day parade suggests a potential reconnection of diplomatic ties after the country had sealed itself off from trade and diplomatic interactions in early 2020, even with its main economic and political partners, Russia, and China.

French police are investigating allegations made by Alain Delon’s three children against his former companion, Hiromi Rollin, who had been caring for the 87-year-old film star. The children claim that Rollin engaged in “moral harassment” of their father and used her influence to isolate him and make him dependent on her. They also allege that she controlled his correspondence, maligned their names, and mistreated Delon’s dog, Louba, leading him to put the pet in kennels.

Alain Delon, known for his heart-throb looks and tough-guy screen persona in French cinema, had been increasingly cared for by Rollin at his country house since suffering a stroke in 2019. However, a showdown with the three children in July led to Rollin moving out of the residence. Anthony Delon, Alain’s son and an actor as well, revealed on French television that he became suspicious of Rollin’s actions when she failed to inform the family about his father’s hospitalization after a fall.

The relationship between Rollin and Delon is described differently by the parties involved. Anthony Delon refers to her as his father’s “dame de compagnie” or lady companion, implying a contractual relationship. Rollin, on the other hand, considers herself Delon’s “compagne” or partner.

In response to the allegations, Rollin’s lawyer submitted a 39-page statement to the prosecutor’s office, denying the family’s claims. The lawyer asserted that Rollin had been providing daily personal care to the aging actor since his stroke and had not been paid for her companionship. The lawyer further suggested that the children’s motives might be financial, hoping to gain from pointing fingers at Rollin.

The story has garnered significant attention in the French media due to Alain Delon’s legendary status as a prominent figure in French cinema, known as one of the last “big beasts” or “monstres sacrés” of the industry.

In the northern regions, violent storms and strong winds have uprooted trees, damaged buildings, and injured people. Local authorities have issued warnings and precautions to residents, advising them to avoid public parks and places with trees at risk of snapping off. The extreme weather has also affected the city of Milan, with the historical Sforza Castle closing to the public due to weather-related damage.

With one year left until the Olympics, Paris is in the final stages of an unprecedented cleanup effort, paving the way for swimmers and divers to return to the River Seine. Swimming in the Seine had been prohibited for a century due to its polluted waters, but a successful €1.4bn regeneration project has changed the landscape. The upcoming Games will feature three Olympic and Paralympic events taking place in the Seine, and by 2025, three open-air swimming areas will be accessible from the quayside.

The city’s river quality had deteriorated over the years due to industrial sewage and a growing population, leading to a decline in aquatic life. One of the main challenges was the outdated drainage system, which combined used water from kitchens and bathrooms with sewage from toilets. However, improvements in the last two decades have already significantly reduced the presence of harmful bacteria in the river.

To address the remaining issue, a vast underground reservoir has been constructed to store runoff during heavy rains, preventing it from directly entering the Seine. This will enable the river to be officially classified as clean and safe for public bathing.

In addition to fish returning to the Seine, including some reintroduced by angling associations, the river’s ecosystem has seen a positive transformation with the resurgence of molluscs, aquatic insects, sponges, and crayfish. Although some concerns remain about rats in the city, studies have shown that the amount of leptospirosis bacteria is not abnormally high.

With the successful cleanup efforts, Mayor Anne Hidalgo has revealed three spots along the Seine that will be open for public bathing from summer 2025, allowing both fish and humans to reclaim their place in the revitalized river.

Being honest, beauty pageants require a lot of preparation, it’s not just about how beautiful you look but it’s more about how you represent yourself, the knowledge you possess about what is happening around you and your take on the issues and how you would use your voice to bring about a change. My preparation began with me realising why I want to be on this stage, working on every aspect it takes to be on this stage and molding myself with new learning’s every day.
Pegasus has played a very integral part in this journey of mine, the grooming we got on various aspects like ramp walk, personality development, voice modulation, stage presence, etc has helped me in cracking the code of pageants. Thank you to our groomer Konchita ma’am and the entire Pegasus organisation, Ajit Ravi sir, Jebitha ma’am and everyone for this wonderful opportunity.

What challenges did you encounter during the pageant, and how did you overcome them?

As to how beautiful pageant might seem to be but the journey might be the same challenging There are many challenges, may it be financially, mentally or may be some days are just not meant for us. How has participating in Miss Glam World impacted your life and personal growth?

It has made me a much more confident individual. It has shown me that hard work will never leave your side. The learning from this platform is something that I will cherish forever and put to the right use in my everyday life too.

As the second runner-up, what do you believe set you apart from the other contestants?

Throughout the pageant, I have always kept reminding myself why I am here and never forget my goal but at the same time, a very prominent lesson that pageants have taught me is to embrace the journey and live every moment to the fullest. And I think that is what sets me apart. Being present, staying calm, embracing the journey and learning sometimes from every situation, person or event.

What are the most significant lessons you learned from your Miss Glam World experience?

Miss glam world is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It taught me that more than the destination it’s the journey that matters. So many contestants from so many different countries, so much diversity but at same time there was love, care, and sisterhood for one another. This experience did show the beauty of pageants and the wonderful essence it carries on humankind.

How do you plan to use your platform and recognition as the second runner-up to make a positive impact on society?

I know that I can’t suddenly bring a big change in society but practically whatever little is possible from my end, I will work to the fullest to bring that positive difference. May it be like the smallest of motivating someone who is doubting their own ability irrespective of what field it is. Or being a voice or lending a helping hand to the ones in need.
I was always taught the importance of education and through this platform, I want to show the world the importance of education and the change it can bring on a personal and at a global level. By this even if I can bring about a change in few people’s life that itself would mean a lot to me.

Can you share your favorite aspect of the pageant experience and why it was so meaningful to you?

It would definitely be the sisterhood. This journey just blesses us with so many sisters , friends, mentors, role models, etc. We all most definitely know that this is a competition but at the same time everyone here is there for one another. There is love, empathy, sharing, caring for one another and this is something that certainly stands out when it comes to pageants.

What advice would you give to aspiring contestants who are considering participating in Miss Glam World in the future?

Just go for it girl! This journey will mold you into a better individual in so many ways, not just in the pageant space but on a personal level too. This is definitely a very safe place with right mentors, right guidance and great environment. Try to always give your best but do not ever forget your roots.

How do you see yourself continuing to be involved in the pageant world or the beauty and fashion industry moving forward?

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING, this is what I tell myself every time. Like any other field I believe pageants are also a limitless journey of learning and knowledge gaining. So I will certainly continue this journey of pageants and grab every opportunity that comes my way and make the best use of it.

Throughout the competition, you must have met and interacted with various contestants. Have you formed any strong friendships or connections that you plan to maintain?

It’s said “You are an average of 5 people around you “ and I feel it’s always important to be surrounded by like-minded people and for me these friendships that I have been fortunate to make during my pageant journey are very precious. The energy, and vibe when you talk to people having similar goals like us is wonderful. Yes, I have also made some precious friendships that I will treasure forever.

What do you think the pageant industry can do to further empower and support women in their personal and professional endeavors?

Pageant industry can become more inclusive, open and welcoming to every individual irrespective of their colour, creed, height, age, marital status, etc and with the help of social media and other platforms it should show the world what a beautiful platform this is and how it empowers women community as a whole.

Beyond the glitz and glamour of pageantry, what are your personal interests and passions?

Beyond the glitz and glamour of pageantry, I would want to be a strong, independent woman who is successful in her professional career and who can inspire others with her positive actions.
Being an engineer myself my parents have always emphasised on the importance of education and through this platform I want to voice for the education of underprivileged and show the world the prominence of education.

How has your experience in Miss Glam World shaped your perception of beauty and its role in today’s society?

Beauty for me has always been something beyond one’s external appearance. In my perspective beauty, especially when it comes to beauty pageants is all about how confidently you project yourself and your thoughts and in doing so, It’s essential that we all collectively promote diverse representations of beauty and focus on inner qualities and talents.

In the future, would you consider participating in other pageants or similar competitions to further your personal and professional growth?

Yes, I have always believed beauty pageants is a journey of limitless learning and continuous personal development, it has also helped me in both, my personal and professional front in putting forth my ideas confidently. So I will continue to work hard, follow my heart , trust the process and grab every opportunity that comes my way and make the best use of it.
As I mentioned before, THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING!!
