Denmark Warns Russia Could Intensify Hybrid Warfare in Coming Months

Denmark’s defence intelligence service has warned that Russia is likely to increase its hybrid warfare activities against Western countries and NATO in the coming months. The assessment points to a growing risk of attacks that could have greater consequences for targeted countries, amid heightened European concerns over sabotage and cyber threats.

The intelligence service said there is a low but growing risk of a limited military attack against one or more NATO countries bordering Russia. Potential actions could include drone or missile strikes on infrastructure supporting Ukraine, false-flag operations involving Ukrainian-made drones, or a limited deployment of Russian troops near a NATO border.

Intelligence chief Thomas Ahrenkiel said Russia’s objective could be to create divisions within NATO rather than seize territory. Meanwhile, Denmark’s Resilience Agency said Russia was likely to attempt destructive cyberattacks against Denmark and raised its threat level. Moscow has repeatedly denied involvement in hybrid warfare or sabotage operations in NATO countries.

Anthropic Disrupts AI Misuse Linked to Bioweapons and Cyberattacks

Anthropic said it disrupted attempts to misuse its Claude AI models for potential biological weapons research, weapons development and cyber espionage. In a new threat intelligence report, the company documented five cases involving researchers using Claude in ways that could support biological weapons development, including efforts to plan experiments involving avian influenza.

The company also reported that a suspected Russia-linked hacking group used AI extensively in cyber operations targeting Ukrainian government, military and diplomatic officials. Anthropic said the group used AI to automate activities including phishing, malware development and evading security detection. It also identified other criminal groups using Claude for weapons-related software and intelligence activities.

Anthropic further said it disrupted attacks involving seven China-based AI labs, including Alibaba, Moonshot and DeepSeek, which it accused of attempting to extract Claude’s capabilities. The company alleged that some operators conducted large-scale “distillation” efforts using Claude outputs to improve other AI models, while Moonshot and DeepSeek allegedly routed customer conversations through Claude for training purposes.

Poland Accuses Russia of Crossing a Dangerous Line with Sabotage Acts

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has accused Russia of orchestrating sabotage operations designed to destabilise Poland, calling the actions a form of “state terrorism”. His statement follows an explosion that damaged key railway tracks on the Warsaw–Lublin line over the weekend—a route linking Poland’s capital to the Ukrainian border. Tusk described the incident as an unprecedented assault on national security.

Authorities have identified two Ukrainian nationals as those responsible for the attack, alleging they collaborated with Russian intelligence before fleeing to Belarus. In response, Poland has requested their extradition, closed the last operating Russian consulate in Gdansk, and deployed thousands of soldiers to protect strategic infrastructure across the country.

Moscow has rejected the accusations and labelled Poland’s actions “Russophobia”, saying it will restrict Polish diplomatic presence in Russia. The explosion comes amid a broader increase in arson, sabotage, and cyberattacks across Europe since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, intensifying concerns about hybrid warfare tactics.
