Cristiano Ronaldo has suggested that the 2026-27 season could be his final year as a professional footballer. The 41-year-old Portugal captain, who recently married Georgina Rodriguez, said he wants to leave behind a “spectacular legacy” after more than two decades at the highest level.

Ronaldo has won five Ballon d’Or awards and five Champions League titles, while also securing league championships in England, Spain, Italy and Saudi Arabia. He has spent nearly four years with Saudi Pro League champions Al-Nassr and has one year remaining on his contract. He is also just 24 goals away from reaching 1,000 senior career goals.

The Portuguese star said he has already thought about life after football and wants to spend more time with his family, travel, and enjoy activities such as padel. Ronaldo also said his future plans extend beyond football, acknowledging that leaving the sport after 25 years of sacrifice could create a significant gap in his life.
