Italy says it will begin administering a third dose of Covid 19 immunizations by the end of this month. Health Minister Roberto Sperenza said the third-dose vaccination would give priority to those with the weakest immune system, including cancer patients and transplant recipients.

Speaking to reporters at the end of a two – day meeting of G20 health ministers in Rome, Roberto Sperenza said the country was ready for a third dose of vaccination. Prime Minister Mario Draghi has said that compulsory vaccination is under consideration as protests against vaccination intensify in the country. The government is discussing the possibility of this, he said.

With the delivery of the third dose, the greenpass requirements will be further expanded. Greenpass is a digital certificate for those who have been vaccinated, those who have had a Covid test negative and those who have survived a Covid infection. Greenpass is now mandatory for dining inside restaurants, traveling long distances, and attending cultural and entertainment shows. It will also be extended to workplaces, officials said.

Protest against the controversial move to use drone technology to measure the temperature of seafarers.

As the Covid expansion continued, the controversial project was intended to be implemented off the coast of Ostia, near Rome. The move by the local health authority was to use drones to assess the body temperature and distance of those who come to bathe in the sea for relief in the harsh summer.

The drones were used to measure people’s body temperature from a height of not less than 25 meters from the water level and not less than 30 meters from people. Massive protests erupted in Rome against the project. Protesters said it was an invasion of people’s privacy and called for an end to such practices. But due to the bad weather in the last few days, the controversial decision has been suspended.

Pope Francis has said he will not resign and will lead a “normal” life after surgery. The pope, who underwent intestinal surgery on July 4, was responding to a news in an Italian newspaper claiming he might resign on his 85th birthday in December. The surgery was to relieve the difficulty caused by the contraction of the intestine.

The incision was made 33 cm from the intestine. He said he could eat anything now and that it was not possible before. The pope said he had been treated with antibiotics and had been advised by a male nurse at the Vatican to perform the surgery, which saved his life.

He ruled out the possibility of resigning, saying he was “almost certain” to attend a climate change conference in Glasgow in November. He will visit Hungary and Slovakia from 12 to 15 this month. There may also be trips to Cyprus, Greece and Malta.
