AI Cuts Deutsche Bank’s Corporate Loan Decisions to Minutes

Deutsche Bank is using artificial intelligence to speed up corporate lending decisions, reducing processing times for some smaller businesses from weeks to just minutes. The technology, launched during the summer, has also shortened lending decisions for multinational corporations from months to weeks, according to Marie-Jeanne Deverdun, the bank’s technology chief.

Germany’s largest lender plans to invest more than €2.5 billion in technology between 2026 and 2028 as it seeks to improve productivity, reduce costs and modernise its legacy systems. The bank has developed an internal AI platform called ADA, named after computing pioneer Ada Lovelace, to develop, monitor and control AI agents while managing risks and maintaining oversight.

Despite the efficiency gains, Deutsche Bank considers cybersecurity its top priority as financial institutions increasingly adopt AI. Deverdun said the bank is preparing for a future in which its AI agents interact directly with those of clients, with appropriate accountability and safeguards. The developments come amid growing regulatory scrutiny of AI risks, while banks worldwide weigh the technology’s benefits against potential security threats.
