Madrid to reimpose certain restrictions to prevent second wave

The Spanish capital of Madrid is planning to reimpose certain lockdown restrictions to prevent a rise in Covid-19.

In the recent past, the continent of Europe has witnessed a rise in the number of Covid-19 cases.

From day after tomorrow onwards, around 850,000 people in the Madrid region will face limits on travel. They will also face some restrictions on sizes of groups.

Spain is one of the worst affected countries in the continent of Europe. In Spain, Madrid is the most affected city.

It is said that the new policy is essential as many northern hemisphere countries are now bracing for a second wave of the pandemic as winter approaches.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has also warned the continent against the relaxed attitude.

Many experts warn that the countries should stay vigilant at least until an effective vaccine reaches market.

Belarus leading opposition leader begins hunger strike in jail

One of the leading opposition leaders of the country, Maxim Znak, has begun hunger strike in jail.

The action has been taken after he was charged with the charge of seeking to harm national security.

Mr. Znak is a renowned lawyer based in the country. He is one among seven leaders of the Co-ordination Council.

The Belarus government is attacking the council through all possible means. At present, at least five of the seven members are either in jail or in exile.

Lately, the UN Human Rights Council, in a special meeting organised in Geneva, voted to launch closer UN monitoring of abuses in Belarus.

The west already questioned the credibility of the Belarus Presidential Election – which offered a chance for President Alexander Lukashenko to continue in the position of power.

The country has been witnessing protest since the declaration of the election result.

Several people have been arrested in connection with the protest. Several international human rights organisations like Amnesty International have exposed the inhuman methods used by the Belarus security force to contain the protest.

In a statement shared through his lawyer, Mr. Znak has said that he had no other way to fight against injustice and arbitrary actions, while in detention.

It is high time for the International community to interfere in the ongoing political crisis in Belarus.

Spanish Govt launches ambitious plans to undo wrongs committed by Franco

The Spanish government, which is led by a left-wing coalition, has launched an ambitious program to undo the wrongs committed by General Francisco Franco, who was a dreaded dictator of the country.

As part of the plan, the government has decided to transform the monument dedicated to the former dictator into a cemetery for people who died on both sides of the Spanish Civil War.

As part of the program, the government is planning to identify the names of the unnamed victims, who were buried in the cemetery.

General Franco was a ruthless dictator. He ruled the country from 1939 to 1975 – until the day he surrendered himself to his final destiny.

He used ruthless means to contain a civil war which broke out during his reign. Because of that attitude, many innocent people lost their lives.

He was buried in a vast mausoleum called the Valley of the Fallen, which was situated just outside Madrid. Around 44 years after his colourful funeral function, his remains were moved to a low-key grave last year.

At this moment, it remans unclear how the latest development will reflect in the politics of the country.

Though Span is currently ruled by the left, the far-right is a very powerful force in the country.

Still, Mr. Franco is considered as a hero by many in this part of the world.

Melania Trump’s statue reinstalled in Slovenia

Shorty after a wooden sculpture depicted US First Lady Melania Trump was damaged in Slovenia, her bronze statue has been reinstalled in the same location.

The previous statue had many shortcomings. Some said that the wooden statue did not have any resemblance to the First Lady.  

At this moment, it remains unclear why the wooden statue was damaged. It is also not clear who damaged the statue.

The First Lady of the United States was born in Novo Mesto in 1970 but grew up in the town of Sevnica. At that time, Slovenia was part of the Communist nation of Yugoslavia.

US artist Brad Downey commissioned the original piece and placed it outside Sevnica in 2019.

Mrs. Trump is very popular in Slovenia. She is seen as a role model by many in this part of the world.

Mrs. Trump is the most popular lady in the region on the basis of politics.

Russia: Navalny getting back to normal life

Alexei Navalny, who was allegedly poisoned by the Russian government at the behest of its President, Vladimir Putin, is getting back to his normal life.

He is being treated at a hospital based in Germany.

The poisoning incident happened while he was travelling to Moscow in a flight. Shortly after the incident, he lost conscious and fell into the stage of coma.

He was initially treated in a hospital based in Russia. But, he was later transferred to Germany, at the request of his supporters, as they raised suspicion about the treatment procedure followed by Russia.

Russia denied the allegation leveled against it by the supports of the victim, who was a vocal critic of the Russian President.

Anyway, the poisoned Russian opposition figure has been removed from ventilation.

As per a latest medial bulletin, the leader can leave his bed in the near future itself.

The poisoning incident has damaged the image of Russia severely. It has left the country at the receiving end of criticism.

Several human rights organisations have criticised the inability of Russia to provide adequate safety to its main opposition figure.

Russia is not new to such allegation. This is not the first time a opposition figure has been attacked in Russia in a similar manner.

Belarus dictator reaches Russia

Alexander Lukashenko, the dictator of Belarus, has reached Russia, to meet his Russian counterpart and supporter, Vladimir Putin.

He has been accommodated in a resort near Black Sea.

It is clear that the visit has a link to the ongoing protest of pro-democratic activists in Belarus.

Russia earlier said that it was ready to send its force to Belarus to support the Belarus leader.

The only country which supports the Belarus dictator at present is Russia. The European Union does not recognise the leader and recently dismissed the election which was allegedly conducted in an unfair manner.

It is the first time since the emergence of the protest that the two leaders are meeting.

The development is keenly observed by the rest of the European world.

Some observers have already termed the meeting as highly crucial.

Already, the Belarus government’s attitude towards the protest has invited huge criticism. If the country continues this attitude, it will lead the European world to a great danger.

It is not wise to let the protest continue in this manner. It is unfortunate that the Belarus dictator shows no remorse for the unacceptable way his force has handled to the protest.

It is high time to find a solution to the Belarus issue.

Russia Prez apologises to his Serbian counterpart

In a rare move, Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended his apology to his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic.

It was a Facebook post that triggered this crisis.

A senior Russian official recently published a provocative Facebook post against Mr. Vucic. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova posted a photo of Mr Vucic sitting opposite President Donald Trump in the White House and below it a photo of actress Sharon Stone’s legs.

The post angered Mr Vucic.

Ms Zakharova later apologised for the post.

Recently, Mr Vucic, while speaking to a media person, have revealed that Russia has expressed its apology for the post.

Russia, for the first time, has admitted that they have extended its apology.

In the recent past, the relation between Russia and Serbia have worsened.

The apology indicates that Russia does not wish to disturb its relation with Serbia.

Belgian ex-King’s love child seeks sane rights as her father’s legitimate children

The love child of the former Belgian King Albert II has approached a court in Belgian seeking the same rights and titles as her father’s legitimate children.

The case has been taken to the court by artist Delphine Boël.

Marking an end to the decade long legal war launched by the love child, King Albert admitted he was Ms Boël’s father early this year.

Though Ms Boel’s mother, Baroness Sybille de Selys Longchamps, never married the king, she had an 18-year affair with the King. It was before he become the King.

It was in the year 1999 that rumours of an illegitimate child first emerged. It was an unauthorised biography about Albert’s wife Queen Paola that publicised the story.

The report fueled a royal scandal and media gossip in Belgium.

It was during an interview taken during the year 2005 that Ms. Boël first alleged on the record that King Albert was her biological father.

Actually, it was when he lost his immunity to prosecution that she opened court proceedings.

Russia Covid-19 vaccine in right direction, claims Russian scientists

In a report published in a renowned International journal, Russian scientists have announced their happiness in the success of their Covid-19 vaccine.

They have shared the details of the preliminary trials of their coronavirus vaccine to back the claim they have made.

The reports shows clearly that there are clear signs of an immune response.

It says that every participant of the preliminary test has developed antibodies to fight the virus.

As a clear indication that the vaccine can clearly dismiss all concerns raised against it, the report explains that the vaccine has no serious side effect.

The European country of Russia, which denounced the warning raised against the vaccine by the WHO and several other countries, already licensed the vaccine for local use, becoming the first country to approve a vaccine to fight against the crisis.

Anyway, the argument that the trial is too small to prove effectiveness and safety still holds water.

To remove the clouds around the effectiveness of the vaccine, the country at first have to address the aforesaid argument in a right manner.

It is hoped that a vaccine which is capable to address this issue in a right way reaches the market as early as possible.

Europe’s biggest brothel files for bankruptcy

Pascha, one of largest brothels of Europe, has filed for bankruptcy, as the Covid-19 restrictions have made it impossible for the brothel to function.

Pascha is a very popular landmark in the city of Cologne. While speaking to media personals, an officer of the brothel has said that the business is at an end.

Prostitution has been outlawed in North Rhine-Westphalia – where the city is located – since the outbreak of the virus.

The organisation employs 120 prostitutes and 60 staffs including cooks and hair dressers.  

The officer has criticised the government handling of the pandemic.

It is high time for the government to confront these kinds of problems. It is unfortunate that the government has done little to address the concerns raised by those involved in this business.

It is not fair to keep a deaf ear at those who are dependent on this business for their living.
