In July, 2021, NASA will launch
the Double Asteroid Redirection Test mission, the first full-scale demonstration
of asteroid defection technology. The mission will target the smaller body in
the binary asteroid system. It will demonstrate deflection technology that can
be used to protect Earth from hazardous asteroids.
Asteroids are all around us
at all times. We hear about the biggest and most dangerous ones on a regular
basis, but at the moment we really don’t have any way to protect ourselves if
one were to come speeding straight for Earth.
The acclaimed space research centre based in the North American country of the United States of America is one of the agencies working on ways to save us from a potentially disastrous collision. The DART mission will test the feasibility of pushing an asteroid off course by slamming a spacecraft directly into it.

‘Autochthonous’ has sparked controversy.
The word simply means ‘of an inhabitant of a place’.
Actually, what that has sparked controversy is not the word but the map she has
shared along with the explanation.
The map depicts Albania, Kosova and certain regions in
Balkan countries as a single territory. Simply, the map supports the expansionist
ideology of Albanian nationalism.
Actually, the pop star has Kosovo roots. She was born to a
couple born in Kosovo. But, the star born after they had moved to the UK.
Though the tweet has been criticized severely by those who
are against the expansionist attitude of the Kosovo nationalism, it has received
tremendous support from those who subscribe the idea of Kosovo nationalism.
Anyway, the tweet has brought the topic of Kosovo
nationalism back into the table of global political discussion.
The star has not yet commented about the criticism she has received
for her tweeter post.
It is not the first time the topic has received global
attention.
The creation of Greater Kosovo is the longstanding dream of Kosovo nationalism. The idea has several supporters in the Europe – especially in the region where the disputed countries including Kosovo are situated.

The trial in the infamous synagogue attack case has begun in
the European country of Germany. Around two people were killed in the horrifying
act.
The attack took place on 9th October 2019. It was
the holiest day of the Jewish year.
The attack was live streamed by the attacker.
As per the version of police, he was inspired by anti-Semitism
and xenophobia. He acted alone, according to the police. They said that he was radicalized
through internet.
The case was shocking in nature. It sent shockwaves across
the country.
Many German politicians came out strongly against the attack.
Notably, the attacker had a clear political motive. He wanted
his attack to inspire a certain section of German people to take up arms
against the Jewish community of the country.
It remains unclear how the trial will be handled. The lawyer of the attacker earlier said that there was no point in denying the action.

The Middle East country of Iran has given back the black box
of a Ukrainian plane downed accidently in early this year as Tehran mistakenly identified
the plan as a missile.
The incident happened at the time the rivalry between Tehran
and Washington was at its peak. Initially, Iran denied any involvement in the
attack. Later, when the western intelligence agencies confronted the country
with undeniable evidences suggesting the involvement of the country in the crime,
Iran admitted the wrong doing and apologized publicly describing it as an
unforgivable mistake.
As many as 176 persons was killed in the accident. The fight
was travelling to the European country of Ukraine. The incident happened shorty
after the take off of the flight.
The black box may help to determine the actual cause of the
attack.
The accident has tainted the image of the Middle East
country of Iran badly. It has deteriorated the relation between the west and Iran.
In a sense, it has helped the United States to push through
its strategy of isolating Iran.
The incident has weakened the strength of Iran considerably.
The latest develop will reopen the discussion around the tropic – which is hiding in the pit of history.

If this surgery is done in a patient with diabetes type-2, he/she can taste cure within a timeframe of 24 hours itself. If one is obese or overweight and under treatment for type-2 diabetes for long time, he/she can be treated with this method – which helps to adjust the intestine position and resume insulin production. But, this type of surgery is not effective in type-1 diabetes mellitus patients in which insulin production is completely defective.
Laparoscopic Hernia Surgery
All kinds of hernias can be effectively managed by minimally invasive technique. It avoids large cuts especially on the area of hernia which is already weak. Using a one centimetre cut, the lap surgeon can place large mesh – five times the size, possible in open surgery. Mesh will be placed in the beginning portion of hernia so as to get best strength and least reaction with skin and fat. It gives excellent results as recurrence chance is only 0.1 percent and infection chance is very negligible. Patient can be active in few days’ time compared to months of rest in cases done by open techniques.
How did you get interested in Laparoscopy
The Laparoscopy was introduced in India while I was doing my post-graduation in New Delhi. It was only few years since its inception in the world. My training period gave me the opportunity to observe and compare the laparoscopy with open methods. The remarkable advantage and comfort of laparoscopy experienced by patients, generated interest in me to pursue this speciality. I have trained and developed a team of experts who are now capable of performing these procedures and surgeons from all across globe continue to benefit from our training programmes.
Keyhole surgery: Further studies are underway Right now, there are several surgical associations across the world. Special live operative sessions and conferences are arranged for – the members of these associations – who are interested in this specialty. In some cases, only a week long session is required to get an idea of this method. Sessions about this procedure also improve the knowledge of both teachers as well as students. I was a person who learned this technique with my own effort. Earlier, it needed at least one year to learn this method. But, now, it requires only weeks. What attracts doctors is the fact that laparoscopy require less time to perform.
This surgical procedure is taught through several steps and methods. Large pigs in animal labs at Yenopoya Medical College are used for training purpose. To get an opportunity to try this method on human, a surgeon has to get acquainted with this technique by observing several cases on a regular basis. International Conference is organised every year to discuss the latest developments of this specialty, and to promote this method. The main objectives of Verwandeln Institute in Kochi are to promote Laparoscopic training and conference. The institute activity benefits learners, and helps patients to be aware of this surgical innovation. Only when patients are aware, they seek such procedures and give consent to laparoscopic surgeries. There is a general confusion about whether there is any difference between keyhole surgery and laparoscopy. Actually, laparo means abdomen and scope means watch. That means when done in the abdomen – it is laparoscopy; when done in the chest -thoracoscopy; when at the joints- arthroscopy; and when in the neck- endoscopic neck surgery. Laparoscopic method is helpful to treat cancer – especially in cases connected to intestine. It avoids bringing out intestine – stoma.

For him, his belief was much higher than his life. To save him and his belief, for the first time in the modern medical history, surgery was performed on him with just 2 gmHb; without the support of any blood administration. He was given oxygen assistance for at least four weeks. An injection to improve haemoglobin level –was administered. He successfully recovered from his disease. That story was featured in several global journals. For a doctor, what is important is the health and satisfaction of his patients. He should be willing to go to any extend to help his patients. Had I not taken that risk, the aforesaid patient would not have survived his disease condition. Likewise, a surgery performed on a cancer patient who was turned away by almost all major hospitals across India is also noteworthy. She was struggling with the pain caused by the disease condition. The tumour that had developed in her pelvis had spread to almost all nearby organs. Through surgery, the size of the tumour was reduced to around 1/20. It is very satisfying to see her moving around happily. A surgery done on a woman who suffered a stab injury from a guest worker is similar to those mentioned above. She was bleeding to death. In that case also, the patient was successfully saved by an emergency chest surgery within minutes of her arrival to hospital.
Yves Rausch, who
is popularly known as “Rambo”, has been booked by German police. The arrest has
happened after a five-day manhunt.
He was hiding in
the Black Forest. He recently attacked a group of policemen and snatched their
weapons from them.
The weapons,
which was snatched from the police officials, have been seized during the operation.
Mr. Rausch has suffered a minor injury during the operation. Few police personals
have also been injured.
Notably, the
operation has been carried out by a huge team comprising of as many as 2,530 police
or security personals.
Mr. Rausch has
a criminal record. At this moment, it remains unclear whether he has any mental
health issue.
A family
member of the arrested man has said that he was recently vacated from his rented
home. The member has added that he created a temporally home in the forest as
he loved to live with nature.
The mayor of
the region has appreciated those who have successfully completed the mission. He
has also expressed his happiness and relief in the arrest of the man, nicknamed
as “Rambo”.
“Rambo” is a popular war film. In the film, its central character is an aggressive fighter who knows the secret of nature.

A German court has observed that the authorities had
too much access to the internet and mobile phone date of people.
The court has ordered the authority to develop a new
law to protect the internet privacy of people.
Traditionally, Germans are very vigilant about their
privacy laws. They never tolerate any kind of intrusion into their privacy
matters.
They fought and dismissed the authoritarian politics
of both the Nazi Germany and the post-World War Two East Germany, on this
ground.
The latest directive of the court is serious in nature.
It is expected to open up a serious debate on this matter.
The country has so far witnessed several movements demanding
the protection of the mobile phone and internet date of people.
The court’s observation is expected to pave way for
the emergence of a new political movement, which can force the country to introduce
a strong law to protect the internet privacy of people.
It is high time to launch a global movement to protect
the digital privacy of people. In most countries, the right to digital privacy
is still in a primitive stage.
Let’s embrace the right to digital privacy together. Hope that the United Nations will take up the matter seriously.

The post-Covid stimulus package is a very controversial one.
The member countries of the European Union have mixed opinions in this matter. Primely,
there are two groups. One of them is led by the affected countries like Italy
and Spain, and the other is led by certain conservative countries such as
Hungary and the Netherlands. The affected faction wants the entire European
Union to take the burden of the package. The conservative one is against that
idea and wants the beneficiaries to repay the payment once things become stable.
Anyway, the leaders of the member countries of the European
Union are set to meet to discuss the matter in the near future.
This is the first time since the outbreak of Covid-19 the
leaders have decided to meet in person.
Some top leaders have hinted that the proposed meeting would be very crucial for the fate of the package and for the future of the economic union – which is the most powerful economic union in the world.

The death of a delivery driver has created a serious political
uproar in the European country of France. The death is similar to the one
happened in the North American country of the United States of America in connection
with the death of a black man.
Like what happened in the US, this French man has also been
chocked to death by the police. He has also cried several times for help. His loud
cry has also gone unheard.
As many as three police personals have been booked in connection
with the case. They have been charged with manslaughter.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased man have
expressed their unhappiness about the way the case was being handled by the
police. They have demanded more serious charges against the accused police
officials.
The case has badly tainted the image of the police. It has turned
the public against the police department.
It seems that the incident may prompt the country to review
the working style of the police department.

The latest series of MeToo campaign has left a renowned Russian journalist, Sergey Prostakov, who is regarded as one of the most powerful anti-establishment journalists based in the European country of Russia, badly hurt.
Around a dozen women has come out
strongly against the journalist, alleging that he has inappropriately touched
them on a number of occasions, even in the office.
Mr. Prostakov is a well known figure.
He has many followers across the country. He is popular for his stern stand against
the establishment.
Once, he was the editor of MBKh Media,
which was the face of the Russian opposition.
The accused journalist is very close
to Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the exiled Russian oligarch who is regarded as the
prime opponent of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
It remains unclear whether there is
any politics in the allegations levelled against the journalist who is
considered as a threat by the Russian autocrat.
Anyway, the journalist has expressed his apology. But, he has declined to accept that he has done some wrongs.
