Right-wing senator shoots sexist remark against Italian Education Minister

A right-wing senator, Giuseppe Moles, who is the member of right-wing party Forza Italia, has shot a sexist remark against Italian Education Minister Lucia Azzolina, who is the member of anti-establishment Five Star Party – which recently entered the corridor of power as a collation partner of the ruling government.

The senators of the anti-establishment party have asserted that the right-wing leader should apologize to the Italian minister.

The Italian government has offered special protection to the minister. The government has also extended protection to some rightist senators.

The Italian coalition government is at the brink of collapse. The present government is the mixture of some contradictory parties.

The present crisis has further reduced the strength of the Italian coalition government. It may even push the coalition to the state of complete disaster.

The economy of Italy urgently needs the support of the government.

Oldest Cognac sold for £118,580

To the surprise of many, despite the lockdown imposed to curb the spread of the coronavirus virus, the oldest bottle of Cognac of the world has been sold in an online auction for £118,580.

The bottle dates back to 1762 and has been stored in a family cellar for the past 140 years.

Notably, the organizers of the auction has guaranteed that the bottle of Cognac would taste good though it crossed its 100th birth day almost fourty years ago.

The identity of the person who has brought the bottle has not yet been revealed. The bottle has been bought by a private collector in Asia.

Anyway, the sales has set a record for the most expensive bottle of Cognac sold at auction.

It is one of only three bottles of the rare Gautier Cognac still in existence.

Of the two other smaller bottles, one is in a museum in France and the other was sold at auction in New York in 2014 for about £48,000.

Russia attacks press freedom in the cover of Covid-19 restrictions

The European country of Russia has severely stifled the voice of journalists misusing the restrictions imposed to curb the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Recently, a group of independent journalist, who organised a single-person protest (a kind of protest which does not require the permission of the government) to express their disagreement against the arrest of their colleague, has been booked and charged with some severe charges by the government.

Anyway, several International human rights forums including Council of Europe Rights Commissioner has demanded the immediate release of the journalists.

Russia now faces a serious allegation that the country misuses the present crisis to crackdown on those who, they feel, are against the dominance of Vladimir Putin.

The issue is expected to trigger a discussion across the world. It is learned that many European countries are angry with Russia over this matter.

Demand for abuse imagery raises

As per a study conducted by an International media house based in the European country of United Kingdom, the demand for abuse imagery has shot up during the lockdown imposed to curb the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.

The report says that between March and April the demand for obscene material online has almost doubled.

Similar findings have been made by a US based agency, named Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.

What the report indicates is that the issue deserves urgent attention. The issue exposes an unattended area in connection with the lockdown regulation.

It is assumed that it is the drop in site deletions due to the lockdown that contributes to the rise in the obscene material in the online space.

The issue is expected to trigger a serious discussion across the world over the topic. A global investigation, involving several advanced investigative agencies, needs to be launched to fight this issue.

Vietnamese Migrant Death: Around 26 booked in Belgium and France

As many as twenty-six people have been booked in Belgium and France in an investigative operation triggered by the unnatural deaths of 39 Vietnamese migrants in a lorry in the UK in the year 2019.

Asphyxia and hypothermia are the reason that led to the deaths of the migrants – who were attempting to migrant to the United Kingdom.

The investigation has been carried out with the support of Europol. The police departments in several European nations have offered support to the investigation team.

At least thirteen of the total arrested people has been booked in Belgium, while the rest has been arrested from France.

The arrested people are said to be the members of a infamous network operate in the region to help migrants reach the United Kingdom illicitly.

As per a preliminary report, through this network, hundreds of people have reached the UK in the recent months.

Recently, the lorry driver who had transported the migrants to the UK plead guilty.

The issue is expected to open up a national wide discussion about the topic across the world – especially in the west where migration is a huge issue.

EU to offer recovery fund

The European Union is set to announce a recovery fund to help its member countries to overcome the financial burden caused by the measures imposed to curb the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.

The total worth of the recovery fund is between €500bn and €1 trillion. The fund is expected to be proposed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Europe is badly affected by the outbreak. The southern countries in the Europe are the one which has suffered the worst.

Unfortunately, even before the onset of the outbreak the economies of some countries in the south were at the brink of collapse.

Initially, the countries in the north were not ready to take the burden of the recovery fund developed for the collapsed economies in the south.

It was after it was convinced that if the burden was not shared the economic union in the continent might not survive long.

Germany to rescue Lufthansa

The European country of Germany has decided to offer a helping hand of renowned German-based airline Lufthansa.

The company has agreed to sign the rescue deal worth €9bn with the German government – which has timely come forward to save the airline company from collapse.

The airline conglomerate has been extremely affected by a fall in travel due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Recently, the company had to close its budget airline Germanwings.

What the deal means is that the German government will take at least 20% stake in the firm.

The deal is still only on papers. To see the deal get materialized, it needs the consent of the stakeholders of the company. The deal also needs the approval of the European Commission.

According to the rescue package, the German government will inject as many as €5.7bn in non-voting capital.

It is expected that the deal may help the airline company to overcome the present crisis.

It is yet to see whether the deal may inspire other European countries to come up with similar packages for their failing conglomerates.

The German example is closely watched by many. In the coming days, France and Italy may come up with similar measures as these countries have several compassing business houses at this moment.

UK MPs demands PM’s chief adviser’s resignation

Some Conservative MPs – especially backbenchers – have demanded the resignation of PM’s chief adviser Dominic Cummings.

The MP has alleged that he, who is a senior official close to the UK Prime Minister’s office, has broken some coronavirus lockdown rules.

He is facing allegations of a second trip to the North East.

Anyway, the UK government has supported Mr. Cummings. Almost all ministers have expressed their support to the UK PM’s advisor.

What that disturbs the UK government is its own MPs has taken a strong stand against the PM’s advisor. The government cannot dismiss this argument as a politically motivated one.

Among those MPs who have questioned the PM’s advisor, there is powerful UK lawmaker Steve Baker.

Notably, Mr. Cummings has not yet responded anything about the allegation yet. He may come up with a defense argument in future, if the allegations leave the government in a difficult situation.

This is not the first time Mr. Cummings has faced an argument of this nature. Earlier, it was accused that he drove 260 miles from London to County Durham with his wife, who had coronavirus symptoms.

Anyway, the Labour Party, the main opposition of the UK’s Conservative Party – which rules the country, has demanded a investigation into both of these allegations.
