COVID’s Nightmare in Russia Being Fueled by Vaccine Rejection

An ambulance crew carries yet another Covid patient, an elderly man battling to breathe and barely alive, near the darkened entrance of Hospital Number One in the city of Vologda in Russia’s northwestern region.

The wards of the hospital are overflowing with the sick and dying. According to local doctors, 700 of the 750 patients at the hospital with Covid had not been vaccinated. Every day, lives are lost in this region, and this is just one of Russia’s numerous regions. Russia has been hit particularly hard by the Covid pandemic, which began in March 2020 and is currently facing a very dangerous fourth wave of the virus.

More than 1,000 individuals die per day in the United States, for a total of more than 220,000 deaths. These are unprecedented figures for Russia, making it Europe’s worst-affected country.

Killed in shooting at Britain; Five people were killed and the attacker committed suicide

Five people have been killed in a shooting by a 22-year-old man in a park in Plymouth, Britain. Five people were killed, including a three-year-old girl. The tragic incident happened on Thursday evening. Police said the assailant fired six minutes with a pump action short gun. Such incidents are rare in the UK as the number of gun owners is very low.

This is the first such incident in the last 10 years, police said. Jack Davison, 22, shot and killed himself. He was a crane operator. Police believe family problems are behind the violence. The motive behind the shooting is not clear. No evidence of terrorist links was found.

Devon & Cornwall Police Chief Constable Sean Sawyer said he did not see such a possibility when he checked the attacker’s background and computer. Two people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

COVID-19: Irish PM Says No Jab Needed to Return to Office

Micheál Martin stated that the government would avoid making such a distinction and that returning to work meant a return to livelihoods.

He also lauded the country’s Covid-19 vaccination rollout, which has reached 86 percent of eligible individuals. So far, 5.72 million doses have been provided, with 71% of the eligible population receiving full vaccination and 86% receiving partial vaccination. Mr Martin claimed that 96.9% of vaccines available in Ireland have been administered, placing Ireland “far ahead” of EU statistics.

Eamon Ryan, the leader of the Green Party, has previously stated that he expected many workers to return to work in September. In Northern Ireland, 83 percent of adults over the age of 18 have got their first dose, with 70.9 percent receiving their second.

Italy to Require Covid Health Pass for Indoor Venues

A Covid-19 health pass will be needed from August 6th onwards to visit a number of Italian venues including bars and restaurants.

A health pass known to be a green pass in Italy will be mandatory to access swimming pools, gyms, concerts, sports events, and cultural venues including museums, cinemas, and theatres. However, the government stated that nights clubs will remain closed. The health pass will indicate that the holder has either got the first jab of vaccine, has recovered from the disease, or tested negative in the previous 48 hours.

The “health card is an instrument to allow Italians to continue their activities with the guarantee of avoiding being among contagious persons,” Prime Minister Mario Draghi stated Thursday evening following the cabinet meeting that approved the move. “The green pass is not an arbitrary thing,” he added, “it is a condition to keep economic activity open.”

Anti-Virus Software Pioneer John McAfee Found Dead

John McAfee, the creator of antivirus software, was found dead in prison outside Barcelona. Aged 75 years old, was discovered dead in his prison cell hours after Spain’s National Court approved his extradition to the US over multiple tax fraud charges.

It seemed that McAfee had taken his own life. He had been in custody since October on a June 2020 US indictment in which he was charged with failing to file four years of tex returns while concealing assets.

McAfee VirusScan helped to spark a multi-billion dollar industry in the computer world, and was eventually sold to technology giant Intel for more than $7.6bn (£4.7bn).

Covid-19: European Union Adds the US to its Safe Travel List

The European Union has decided to add the United States to its safe travel list, wherein it will be now easier for Americans to take a vacation in one of the 27 member states.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, non-essential travel from the US and from other places was being banned earlier in order to avoid further contagion. However, with the vaccinations getting on track, the 27 EU ambassadors based in Brussels that the region allows nonessential travelers from eight new countries and territories.

These are the US, Albania, North Macedonia, Serbia, Lebanon, Taiwan, Macau, and Hong Kong.

European Union Approves Virus Pass, Boosting Summer Travel Hopes

The European Union (EU) lawmakers have endorsed a new travel certificate that allows people to move between European countries without having to quarantine or undergo extra coronavirus tests.

This is to start in time for summer this year. This certificate is aimed at saving Europe’s travel industry and prime tourist sites from another disastrous vacation season. Several European countries like Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Greece, and Poland have already begun using this system.

Currently, traveling in the EU’s 27 nations is a trail for both the tourists as well as airlines alike, wherein each nation is applying different rules and standards making travel confusing for all.

French president Emmanuel Macron slapped on face

On an official visit to the south-east of France, French President Emmanuel Macron has been slapped in the face.


In a video circulating on social media platforms, Mr Macron is seen walking up to a barrier on a trip to Tain-l’Hermitage outside the city of Valence. A man in a green T-shirt slaps Mr Macron in the face before officers quickly move in. The president, meanwhile, is pulled away. According to the reports two men have been arrested following the incident.

The identity and motive of the man are not yet clear. In a statement, the local prefecture said he and another individual are being questioned by the gendarmerie.

Euro 2020: Thomas Mueller on the Mark as Germany Thrash Latvia

Thomas Mueller has scored his first international score in two years as Germany crushed minnows Latvia 7-1 in their final warm-up friendly before the Euro 2020 finals.

Latvia which ranked 138th in the world, got rarely out of their half as Germany turned up for their opening game of the European Championship against world champions France in eight days’ time in Munich. The 35-year old veteran had one of the quietest nights of his career in Dusseldorf. He was largely untested until Latvia midfielder Aleksejs Saveljevs caught the German defense napping with a consolation goal 15 minutes from time.

Kai Havertz ghosted through the Latvia defense to set up the opener as left-back Robin Gosens claimed his first international goal, then 86 seconds later Gundogan crashed in the second. Germany was 3-0 up inside 27 minutes when Mueller hit the net, his 39th goal in 102 caps for Germany.

Hungarians Protest Against Planned Chinese University Campus

Thousands of protestors have marched through Budapest to protest against plans to open a Chinese university campus in the Hungarian capital.

The opponents stated that this will undercut the country’s own higher education and increases the influence of China’s communist authorities. “I do not agree with our country’s strengthening feudal relationship with China,” Patrik, a 22-year-old student who declined to give his full name, said at the protest in the Hungarian capital. He said funds should be used “to improve our own universities instead of building a Chinese one.”

The government had signed an agreement with Shanghai-based Fudan University in April and had planned to build the campus at a site in Budapest where a dormitory village for Hungarian students was already been planned.
