In the recent past, the continent of Europe has witnessed
a rise in Covid-19 cases. The raise has left European countries in a difficult
situation.
Some countries have already re-imposed some of the restrictions
which they removed.
Recently, the Spanish government attempted to impose a partial
lockdown in a heavily populated region in the country.
The attempt was overturned by the court, as they found the
decision taken by the government inappropriate.
Germany has intensified its efforts to contain the spread
of the Covid-19 outbreak. Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, is expected to convene
a meeting with the leaders of her country’s regional governments.
Span and Italy are the most affected regions in the
continent of the Europe.
In the latest wave of the disease, the countries that need
to stay vigilant are the ones which suffered during the initial wave.
It implies that the aforesaid European countries need to
gear up its efforts to bring the situation under control.
It is said that the European medial infrastructure, unlike
the previous wave of the disease, this time is highly competent to defend the
wave.
It is believed that the latest wave is not capable to make an impact as serious as that of the previous one.

As the Asian country
of India, which was the first country which introduced a tough lockdown, has reached
the advanced stage of the unlock phase, it has offered several relaxations, especially
to its entertainment industry (the rapidly growing industry).
Days after the introduction
of certain relaxations, an Internationally acclaimed beauty contest has been
organised in the country.
The third edition of globally
acclaimed beauty contest Manappuram Mrs South India has been organised at SAJ
Earth Resorts in the southern state of India, Kerala.
It is one of the few Internationally
acclaimed beauty contests from the Asian region.
Deepa Lal from the Indian state of Kerala has won the Manappuram Mrs South India 2020 title. Candida Andrade Halgekar from the Indian state of Karnataka has been awarded the first runner up title of the Mrs South India, and Dr. Bhavna Rao from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu the second runner up title.
This is the first time
a beauty event has been organised in this part of the world since the Covid-19
lockdown. Moreover, this is the first time the possibility of the virtual mode
has been fully explored.
The winners of the contest
have been crowned by the founder of SCAAS, Mrs Shiney Justine.
At least eight women from the four South Indian states, such as Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, have participated in the Mrs South India.
The franchisee holder of this year’s Mrs South India contest is Shiny Justine, who is the founder of SCAAS.
The contestants from
outside the state of Kerala, who were selected to participate in the Mrs South
Indian contest, have participated in the event virtually through the digital
platform, which has been arranged by the organiser.
In the beauty contest,
not only the physical beauty of the contestants has been gauged, but also their
intelligence, talents and social commitment have also been measured.
The winners have been
selected by the judging panel comprised of several acclaimed personalities in
the fashion and modelling industry such as Lakshmi Menon (model), Archana Ravi
(model), Hari Anand (designer) and Dr. Sajimon Parayil
(actor-cum-designer).
The traditional saree
round and red gown round are the two main rounds in the Mrs South India.
The online grooming
session of the contest began on 23rd September itself. The grooming
has been handled by a team of experts in the industry.
The physical grooming

women from the southern region of the country.
Notably, during the
event, the organiser has strictly followed the Covid-19 protocol and
directives, released by the authority to contain the spread of the Covid-19
outbreak.
In honour of healthcare workers who are the frontline fighters against the country’s battle against the Covid-19 crisis, during the selection round of the event, heath workers were given priority.

Around 100 people has lost their life in the Armenia-Azerbaijan
battle. Unfortunately, among those who have been affected include civilians.
The battle was triggered by the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. The issue
is one of the oldest disputes in the European region.
Armenia considers Nagorno-Karabakh, which is under the control of
its ethnic minorities, as an integral part of the country.
Azerbaijan rejects that claim made by Armenia. The country considers
it as the real owner of the region.
Azerbaijan’s claim has the backing of the liberal western powers
such as the European Union and the United States of America.
Likewise, Armenia has the backing of the European country of Russia.
Both Armenia and Azerbaijan are the former Soviet Socialist Republics.
The initial dispute over the ownership of the territory began during
the early 1990s – shortly after the disintegration of the United States of
Soviet Socialist Republics.
The global community watches the latest development in the continent
of Europe with a curious eye.
Many fear that the latest development will trigger a huge crisis in the continent.

The European country of Netherlands has decided to reimpose certain
Covid-19 restrictions, in order to address the threat posed by the fresh rise
in the number of Covid-19 cases in that part of the world.
The newly imposed restrictions mean many residents in the
Netherlands will, for the first time, be forced to wear a face mask in shops.
It is believed that the latest measures will help the country to
overcome a second coronavirus wave.
The Netherlands is one of the few countries in the continent of
Europe which is not a fan of stricter restrictions.
At present, the daily infection average rate stands at 3,000 cases
per day.
The total population of the country is around 17 million. It indicates
that the status is highly problematic and depressing.
While speaking to media personals, Netherlands Health
Minister Hugo de Jong said they were doing their best but the virus was doing
better.
In a press conference, Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte explained that the situation in the country’s three largest cities – Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague – had become serious and required urgent action.

Once again, an act of terror has occurred in connection with satirical
magazine Charlie Hebdo – which came to spotlight after several journalists had
been killed during a terror attack in the year 2015.
In the latest attack, at least two people has been injured. The latest
has taken place just outside the office.
As many as seven people have been booked in connection with an
attack in Paris.
The attack has been carried out with a meat cleaver.
Shockingly, the main suspect of the attack is a eighteen
year old man from Pakistan.
He has been taken into custody by the Paris police from
the crime scene itself.
It is alleged that the police have miscalculated the security
threat emerged as part of a trial that opened up recently in connection with
the 2015 attack.
Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said it was an act of
Islamist terrorism.
The building where the attack take place is no longer occupied
by Charlie Hebdo, through it had been the office of the magazine since the year
2015 when a terrorist ravaged the office.
It is at present occupied by a production company.
The latest development is seen seriously by the French government. It is expected that it will prompt the country to increase its security installations in several key locations.

The unexpected resignation of a high-ranking Vatican official,
Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Becciu, has exposed the flaws in the Vatican
administrative structure.
The resigned Cardinal alleged that he was told to file his
resignation by Pope Francis
As per a report, the ousted Cardinal was earlier placed under
suspension for misusing Church money.
The allegation against the Cardinal was that he illegally
handed Church money to his brothers.
The ousted Cardinal has denounced all allegations levelled
against him.
A little-known fact is that Cardinal Becciu was a close
aide to the Pope.
Once the said Cardinal was an important officer in the Vatican’s
Secretariat of State.
It was a corruption allegation linked to a controversial
deal to invest in a luxury London building which damaged the image of this
priest.
The issue placed the priest under the spotlight of a financial
investigation.
It is the first time in the recent history that a senior member of the Vatican administration has been removed from the corridor of power.

Sniffer dogs are a friend of security forces. Normally, they are
used to detect bombs. They are a common sight in airports.
Do you know they can be used for many other tasks too. In Finland,
these dogs are even used to detect Covid-19 patients.
As part of a trial, these dogs have already been deployed in an
airport in Finland, named Helsinki-Vantaa airport.
As per a study, these dogs can detect the presence of the virus in
human at least five days before the appearance of any symptom.
The trial is being conducted under the guidance of the University
of Helsinki. It is being monitored by a term of experts from the university.
The trial is a part of the research program launched by the university.
If the result turns positive, many other airports in the region
may adopt this method.
Compared to other methods for detecting Covid-19 patients, this
one is far less complicated, through the credibility of the method is still
largely doubtful.
Anyway, it is important to carry out more researches in this area. Actually, it may not be easy for many to digest this matter in this stage.

The ongoing protest in Belarus has turned violent, as the country has organised a secret function to appoint tainted leader Alexander Lukashenko as the President of the country.
The
country is in the state of unrest since the election which awarded a landslide
victory to Mr. Lukashenko.
The opposition
alleged that the election was not conducted in a free and fair manner. The opinion
was backed by the European Union countries and the United States.
In the
aftermath of the election, the Belarus dictator allegedly launched a serious
crackdown in the country.
Violence
was unleashed against protesters. Several International human rights organisations,
including Amnesty International, appealed for the intervention of the International
community.
Amnesty
International claimed that those protesters who were arrested were subjected to
severe mental and physical torture and some of them were event threatened with rape.
At present,
Russia is the only country which supports Belarus. It even offered to send
police forces to support the Belarus dictator.
Belarus
is, with out any doubt, a satellite state of Russia.
The possibility
is high for this crisis to transform as a European crisis. It is pertinent not
to allow such a transformation.
