French doctor charged with poisoning 17 patients in France
A French anesthesiologist named Frederic Pechier, has been charged for poisoning of 17 people at a clinic in eastern France. The convict has already been investigated for seven other cases of poisoning, among which a total of nine lead to death.
Frederic Pechier (47) have been working as an anaesthesiologist at two private clinics in the eastern French city of Besancon. If found guilty, he would be punished with a life-time imprisonment.
Randall Schwerdorffer, a lawyer told that Pechier was freed overnight on conditional release. Prosecutors claimed that Pechier deliberately tampered with his colleagues’ anaesthesia pouches for creating an emergency and show off his talents.
Jean—Yves Le Borgne, his lawyer reports to media that the investigation proved nothing. He said, “There is a possibility that Dr Pechier committed those poisonings but this hypothesis is nothing but a hypothesis. The presumption of innocence must be stressed”.
