China denounces EU’s resolution on Hong Kong crackdown

The Asian superpower of China has strongly denounced the European Union resolution against the crackdown launched against Hong Kong democratic activists by the Communist Country.

The Communist China has termed the resolution as an interference.

The resolution has been passed by the European Union Parliament. It has demanded sanctions against certain Chinese and Hong Kong officials.

Hong Kong was under the control of the UK. The region, which is situated close to China, was recently handed over to China.

Since the transfer of the territory, China has been slowly injecting its political thought into the region, which inherited a liberal political thought process from its former master.

It is not clear at this moment whether the issue will affect the relation between China and the European Union.

It is less likely China take up a tough retaliatory action against the European Union.

The EU and China maintain a deep economic tie. In that sense, both depend on each other.

Russia begins crackdown on allies of Navalny

The European country of Russia has begun a crackdown on the allies of Alexei Navalny, who was recently arrested by the Russian police in connection with a politically motivated case.

Mr. Navalny is the most powerful opposition leader in the European country of Russia. He recently suffered a serious poison attack.

He was poisoned while he was travelling to Moscow in a domestic air. Initially, when he was treated by Russian doctors, the possibility of the poison attack was ruled out. But when he was moved out of the country to Germany, it was confirmed that he was attacked with an unknown poisonous substance.

While he was in Germany, some serious cases were registered against him. His supporters alleged that the cases were intended to prevent the return of the leader.

Anyway, the cases could not prevent the return of the leader. He was arrested as soon as he returned to his homeland.

The latest crackdown is the latest among the actions the Russian government has initiated in the recent past to reduce the strength of the opposition of the country.

Russia is at present ruled by an authoritarian style system. It cannot tolerate dissent. It simply implies the government likes not to give space to the opposition.

UNHC for Refugees appeals for the US’s support to address the issue of forced displacement

A day after the United States got a new government, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees has appealed for the support of the new administration of the Unites States to address the issue of forced displacement across the world.

Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner, says; “We look forward to deepening the strong and trusted partnership with the United States, and to working with the new administration and congress to address the many challenges of forced displacement around the world.”

The refugee crisis is the biggest problem the world is facing at this juncture.

The developed world, especially certain western European countries like Germany and the United Kingdom and certain North American countries such as the United States and Canada, is struggling to handle the issue.

The steady exodus from the under developed world to the developed world is the new normal.

The issue is creating several issues in the developed world in the sense of security as well as in the sense of economy.

What the latest appeal by the UNHC for Refugees implies is that the arm of the UN, which handles the matter of refugee, is interested to work with the developed world, especially the US, to address the global refugee crisis.

Moreover, it also indicates the global organisation views the changed political scenario in the US as a positive development.

EU leaders want vaccination distribution accelerated

Leaders of the European Union have appealed for the acceleration of the distribution of Covid-19 vaccine.

They have requested for a pro rate population distribution. They have also appealed for an equal distribution of the vaccine among the countries in the union.

They have also advised vaccine companies to respect the commitments they have made in connection with the distribution.

The EU is a very powerful economic union. The ongoing vaccination program is the latest test the union faces.

The virus outbreak has inflicted a serious injury on the continent of Europe. It has directly or indirectly affected lakhs and lakhs of people across the continent.

Italy is one of the worst affected countries in the continent.

There were allegations that in the initial stage of the outbreak the union failed to respond in a timely manner.

The confusion generated in the initial stage even threatened the stability of the union, which helped the western world to sail safely through the turbulent waves of the post-War period.

The issue was even raised in the European Parliament.

The vigil the union shows at this juncture is in a sense an effort to avoid the repetition of the initial faults.

It seems that this time the world leaders are extremely vigilant.

France not to issue apology to Algeria

French President Emanuel Macron has dismissed the report which suggests that the country would issue an official apology to Algeria for the war crimes committed in the former French colony by the then Colonial France.

During the eight-year-old war – which actually ended in the expel of the colonial master form the colony territory, the Colonial France committed several human rights violations in Algeria.

The decision has received serious criticism. Several people have expressed their criticism loudly.

Many have used the social media platforms to express their disagreement.

Algeria is a former colony of France.

Mr. Macron has however agreed to take initiative to improve the relation between France and Algeria.

At present, France shares a cordial relation with Algeria. In the coming days, the relation between Algeria and France is expected to be improved.

France is a very powerful country in the continent of Europe. Unfortunately, the depressing colonial part of France is still haunting the country.    

It is unfortunate that the French President has not showed the courage to express his country’s apology.

Had the French President extended the apology, he could have improved his global image and acceptance immensely.

Olympian Sofi’s revelation puts HSF in trouble

A top federation official has stepped down in connection with the development. He has declined to admit any link between his resignation and the latest development in connection with the Olympic champion’s revelation.

Many see the aforesaid social media movement as the sports version of the MeToo movement, which has redrawn the fate of the media and entertainment industry across the world.

Italian PM wins key senate vote

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, who leads a collation government, has won a crucial senate vote. When As many as 156 lawmakers have voted in favour of him, nearly 140 have voted against him. It has been a very narrow escape.

Anyway, though the victory saves the face of the Italian PM, what the result points to is a disturbing reality that the Italian government no longer enjoys a clear majority in the parliament.

Recently, Matteo Renzi walked out of the coalition government, criticising the way the Italian government handled the economic situation of the country.

More than 16 lawmakers have abstained from casting their opinion. Actually, their abstention has played a crucial role in the victory of the block led by the Italian government.

The PM, while addressing the lawmakers, has requested the support to overcome the present economic situation.

Italy is at present going through a tough economic situation. The virus outbreak has inflicted a huge injury on this country. Its economy has been brought to its lowest point.

The ruling government needs to work really hard to bring the country back to the track of growth and stability. Given the present situation, the ruling government is almost incapable.

IHWC 2021 not to take place in Belarus capital

The International Ice Hockey Federation has decided not to organise the 2021 Ice Hockey World Championship in the capital of Belarus, Minsk.

Belarus is facing a serious political crisis. The country recently witnessed a violent protest. The ruling government has not yet succeeded in bringing the law and order situation under control.

The decision has been taken in the wake of the unpleasant development in Minsk, where the event was supposed to be organised.

The federation has not yet publicised the new venue.

Though the embattled Belarus government has repeatedly assured the federation its capability to provide a safe atmosphere for the game, the federation has not yet lent its ears to the assurance made by the country yet.

The federation is less likely to reconsider its decision to ditch its present home ground.

Many countries in the west have already come forward to win the chance to become the home ground of the prestigious sports event.

There are rumours that the decision to ditch the present home ground has been taken after certain advertisers threatened to back off from the event.

The federation has not yet responded to the allegation. It is believed that the federation is trying to stay away from unnecessary controversies.

Navalny to remain in Russian prison for ten days

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny is likely to remain in the Russian custody for at least thirty days.

The Russian government has not yet responded to the appeal made by the International community demanding the release of the opposition leader.

Last day, several western countries particularly France demanded the immediate release of Mr. Navalny, who is a fearless critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Mr. Navalny was arrested by the Russian police after he had returned to his country.

Last year, the Russian opposition leader was poisoned while he was travelling towards Moscow in a domestic flight.

He was shifted to Germany immediately, as his supporters accused the Russian leader for the incident.

The Russian government recently filed several charges against the opposition leader allegedly to prevent his return to the country.

It is alleged that Vladimir Putin does not wish to allow the return of the opposition leader, who is capable to threaten the domination of the Russian president over the country.

Anyway, the Russian government faces serious pression from the global community to release the opposition leader.

In the coming days, the community is expected to step up its pressure over the country.

Russia arrests opposition leader Alexei Navalny

The Russian government, led by Vladimir Putin, has arrested opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who has returned to his home country from Germany – where he was taken after he had been found poisoned in his home country.

The airport, in which the flight carrying the opposition leader has landed, has witnessed several dramatic sequences.

A video has been releasing showing the disrespectful manner in which he has been informed about the arrest by an officer who has reached the venue to arrest the opposition leader.

Another airport, in which the flight carrying the leader was supposed to land, has seen violence, as the police has tried to forcefully disperse the crowd who has gathered there to greet the retuning opposition leader. Several people have been arrested in connection with the incident by the Russian police.

The arrest of the Russian opposition leader has triggered a serious outrage across the world. Several western countries including France have demanded the immediate release of the opposition leader.

The European Union has also voiced its unhappiness in the arrest of Mr. Navalny, who accused the Russian president for the poisoning attack against him.

Recently, the Russian government has charged several cases against the opposition leader, who is the most vocal critic against the Russian President.

Mr. Navalny’s supporters have dismissed the charges as politically motivated.
