Fight for EU top jobs in Brussels launched by EU Leaders

The leaders of European Union are heading to Brussels to assess the post-election political landscape and consider rival candidates for the EU’s top jobs. The haggling over jobs is likely to last several months. This includes a replacement for EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

Britain is involved in the discussion. The big centrist blocs no longer have a majority, for the first time. The nationalists, the Greens and liberals are boosted by the European Parliament elections.

In this situation the leaders can assess the political mood and explore the possible combinations, for ensuring a stable balance of political opinions, geography and gender.

British Prime Minister Theresa May will be participating, but Brussels sources say there will not be any discussion of Brexit.
