Struggle to find next EU leader continues
Donald Tusk, European Council President said that the EU leaders are expecting to have their proposal for the next EU Commission president ready by the next summit on June 21st.
Brussels witnessed the presence of the leaders from the 28 member states for a summit which emphasized on the wrangling among member states in choosing the next European Commission president following the European elections.
“We did not discuss names tonight, only the process”, said Donald Tusk, regarding Tuesday’s informal dinner, however, no names were mentioned.
On Tuesday, the Council president said that, when it comes to Commission appointments, his “personal ambition” was gender balance. French President Emmanuel Macron have also highlighted Tusk’s preference. Macron have said that he needed two women and two men for the top four EU posts.
