Denmark PM seeks apology of victims of 1950s failed social experiment
Denmark Prime Minister has sought the apology of those children who were made to participate in a controversial social experiment in the 1950s.
The experiment was an utter failure. As a part of the experiment, at least twenty-two children from Greenland were uprooted from their homeland, especially from their families. Cruelly, they were denied the right to live with their families.
The Denmark government has apologized to the victims.
The issue came to the spotlight when one of the victims were interviewed by the BBC.
Helene Thiesen has expressed her happiness in the development. She has said that the apology made by the Denmark government meant everything.
Greenland is now an autonomous territory within the kingdom of Denmark and relies on Copenhagen for management of currency, foreign relations and defence, as well as the provision of a large annual subsidy.
The development has opened up a discussion about the matter in several social media platforms. Many have come out openly against the social experiment which went wrong. Some have expressed their happiness in the courage the Denmark government has shown to apologize for the unacceptable social experiment which ruined the lives of as many as 22 children.
