‘Black vest’ protesters surged to Panthéon in Paris

A large group of undocumented migrants, mainly from West Africa, have rushed in and occupied the Panthéon in Paris demanding the right to remain in France.

The protesters referred themselves as “the undocumented, the voiceless and the faceless of the French Republic”, in a statement.

The incident happened around midday (11:00 GMT) on Friday. The protesters demanded talk with the prime minister Édouard Philippe on regularising their status.

The tourist were evacuated from mausoleum due to the incident. There were reportedly around 700 migrants, along with their supporters who started invading into the historic complex.

Resembling the term ‘Yellow vest protest’, these groups calls themselves ‘Black vests”. The yellow vest protest had been spreading in France earlier this year.

The protest demonstrators waved papers in the air, chanted, and demanded to hold talks with Prime Minister.
