After the announcement of its Cryptocurrency Libra, Facebook is being accused of stealing the logo from online bank – Current. The Fintech CEO claims that Facebook has ‘ripped off’ his bank start-up’s logo for Libra.

According to CEO Stuart Sopp, Facebook has used the same San Francisco-based design firm for its cryptocurrency. The logos are almost looking similar at the first view.

Sopp told media, “This is a funny way to try and create trust in a new global financial system – by ripping off another fintech firm”. The same San Francisco-based design firm named ‘Character’ had previously created the logo of Current in 2016.

“Facebook has all the money and resources in the world. If they truly wanted to make banking more inclusive and fair, they should’ve come up with their own ideas and branding, like we have”, said Sopp in an interview with cnbc.

The gun that is believed to be Vincent van Gogh used to kill himself has been sold in auction for €162,500 (£144,000; $182,000). This is about three times more than the expected amount.

The rusty revolver is supposed to be used by Van Gogh to kill himself in 1890. A private collector had purchased this gun via telephone call.

The gun was found by a farmer from the French village of Auvers-sur-Oise, where the artist spent his final days. The gun was believed to be used by Van Gogh for his suicide, since it was approximately the right age, and used the same calibre of bullet he shot himself with.

In a statement prior to the auction sale, it was said that, “It was discovered where Van Gogh shot it; its caliber is the same as the bullet retrieved from the artist’s body as described by the doctor at the time; (and) scientific studies demonstrate that the gun had stayed in the ground since the 1890s”.

This was a The 7mm Lefaucheux revolver, and was sold at the auction in Paris on Tuesday. The gun was described as “the most famous weapon in the history of art”.

Auctioneer Gregoire Veyres said, “It is a very emblematic piece”.

“The fact that it’s a gun, it’s an object of death. And if Van Gogh is Van Gogh, it’s because of his suicide and this gun is part of it”, he added.

The far-right Alternative for Germany has failed to win its first mayoral seat on Sunday. The party has failed in a main election in the east German part. The party was on its very first attempt to take the control of a German city.

Sebastian Wippel, the party’s candidate has failed to win the mayoral runoff election in the city of Görlitz with 44.8 percent of the vote. If Wippel could win the seat, he would have become Germany’s first-ever AfD mayor.

The Major German governing party, centre-right Christian Democrats’ Octavian Ursu had won a leading vote of more than 55% in the city of Görlitz.

The area around the town had been the backdrop to some Hollywood films, including Inglourious Basterds and The Grand Budapest Hotel. This had given it its nickname Görliwood. Ahead of the vote, several actors and filmmakers linked with the city wrote an open letter requesting the residents not to support the AfD.

Following his victory, Mr Ursu said, “I am happy that a majority has chosen to vote for me. But in the end it is not about two candidates but the orientation of this town to the outside world.” He added, “We remain an open society and do not isolate ourselves”.
