Spanish region bans smoking in public places
A region in Spain, Galicia, has introduced a blanket ban on smoking in public places. The ban has been launched to reduce the risk of the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.
The ban means here onwards restaurants and bars will have to discourage its customers from smoking insider its premises.
It is not clear whether the region will introduce any fine policy in order to strengthen its policy to ban smoking in public places.
Spain is one of the worst affected countries in the region. The country has not yet fully recovered from the clutches of the outbreak.
The ban has come at the time the country was struggling to recover from the damages inflicted by the outbreak.
For the last few days, the daily infection rate has been consistently increasing. The increase has put the system back to the fighting mode.
Though at the moment only Galicia has launched a ban on smoking in public places, in the near future several other regions in the country are expected to introduce such a policy in order to defend their regions from the threat posed by the virus.
