Coronavirus outbreak: Spanish hotel quarantined
A hotel situated in Canary Island in Spain has been quarantined as a doctor, who reached the hotel recently, has been tested positive for coronavirus.
The doctor came from Lombardy, the Italian region which is battling with the disease outbreak.
The hotel authority has advised the visitors to stay in their respective rooms. At this moment, it remains unclear whether any person other than the doctor has been affected.
The development is likely to impact the Spanish tourism industry negatively.
Across the globe, as many as 80,000 people have been affected due to the outbreak, which originated in China. China is the worst affected region.
The outbreak has already impacted the global economy negatively. Several global financial organisations and multilateral groupings have warned against the possible economic slowdown.
Meanwhile, indicating that what the world has witnessed so far is just the beginning, the World Health Organisation has urged the world to do more to prepare for a possible pandemic.
Compared to the Asia and Africa, the developed Europe is less vulnerable to the deadly outbreak. Still, the continent has many things to worry about – especially at the time the globalised world is heavily connected with each other.
