Retired Pope Benedict XVI has strongly opposed the, so called, plan of Pope Francis to ease the celibacy rules of the Church.

It is unusual for a retired Pope to comment about the clerical matters of the Church. Not any time before the retired Pope has come out strongly against Pope Francis.

Notably, a book co-authored by the retired Pope is used to launch an indirect attack against the new plan of the serving Pope.

Neither the serving Pope not the Vatican authority has commented yet about the argument projected against the Pope’s latest celibacy policy by the former leader of the Church.

In the coming days, the latest development is likely to trigger more serious debates about whether the celibacy laws of the Church should be relaxed or not.

It is possible for the issue to make a deep divide.

Pope Francis is not likely to make a direct comment against the argument raised by the former Pope in defence of the existing celibacy laws of the Church.

The present Pope is known for his revolutionary policies. Since his induction, he has already brought several significant changes in the Church.

His reputation as a revolutionary leader means the chances are less for him to step back from the new revolutionary policy.

Hungary to offer free fertility treatment

In a bid to boost its population growth, the European country of Hungary has decided to offer free fertility treatment facility to its citizens.

Recently, many fertility clinics were taken over by the Hungarian government.

For Hungary, improving its population growth is a state policy. The rightist government in the country prefers procreation over immigration as a policy to check demographic decline.

The fertility clinics were taken over as a part of the policy of the Hungarian rightist government.

The latest announcement is also a part of the aforesaid policy which Hungary enthusiastically follows.

The population of the country has been consistently falling for the last few years. There is no sign of improvement in the population growth at this juncture.

The new policy is likely to overturn the scenario. The government expects that once the policy is implemented a huge change can be achieved in this front.

The new policy is expected to be implemented from the first of February.

Some see the policy as the one originated out of the fear of the right-wing government towards the ability of migration to alter the demographic pattern of the country.

At this moment, it remains unclear who all will benefit from the project.

German sandwich poisoning case reaches new turning point

The infamous German sandwich poisoning case related to the poisoning of an employee with mercury and lead acetate by his colleague has reached a new turning point.

The victim who has been in the state of coma for last few years has passed away.

As the victim has succumbed to the injuries caused due to the poisoning, the German authority has decided to initiate a different legal proceeding against the accused.

Last year, the accused was awarded the serious punishment of life imprisonment for his involvement in the crime.

The deceased man was not the only victim. At least two other persons – all colleagues of the accused – were injured in the similar manner. They suffered severe kidney issues as a result of the poisoning incident.

The poisoning was unearthed when one of the employees in the company where they worked identified some unidentified white substance sprinkled over the sandwich provided to him.

The man notified the company authority. It was the investigation of the authority with the help of the visuals of the security cameras installed in the company which unearthed the mystery behind the white powder.

Later, the same powders were recovered from the house of the accused.

Russia, Turkey call for ceasefire in Libya

Russia and Turkey – the two prime European powers – have called for the end of conflict in the North African country of Libya.

Though the two superpowers back rival sides in the conflict, they, it seems, are on the same side on their opinion that the conflict in Libya should end soon.

Turkey recently sent their military force to assist the UN-backed government in the North American country, which is under the threat of a powerful rebel force.

The prime rival of the UN-backed government in Libya is a rebel force led by General Khalifar Haftar.

Turkey accuses Russia of supporting the rebel group led by the general by not asking their mercenaries to stop providing support to the group – an allegation Russia denies strongly.

Recently, Germany warned that the conflict in Libya might turn much worse than what happened in Syria if it was not checked timely.

Libya is very close to the European continent. There is no doubt that the Europe has many things to worry about the developments in the Libyan region.

It seems that Germany is very keen about bringing the situation in the North African region back to normal.

The west has a role in the destabilisation of this region. Undoubtedly, it has the responsibility to bring peace back to this region.

Ukraine Passenger Plane Crash: No Link With US-Iran Crisis

Nothing that can prove the relation between the Ukraine passenger plane crash and the ongoing crisis between the US and Iran has been recovered yet.

A Ukraine plane carrying at least 170 persons has crashed, minutes after it flew to Kyiv from Imam Khomeini airport, Iran.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his deep sorrow about the incident. He has even cancelled his scheduled official trip to Oman.

Ukraine has also constituted an investigative team to investigate the reason for the crash of the plane.

At this moment, it remains unclear whether anyone has sustained the crash. As per a preliminary assumption, no one has survived the crash.

Iran also has supported the argument that there is no possibility for the existence of any survivor.

The depressing footage of the crash is circulating in the social media like a wild fire.

As the crash has happened at the time the crisis between the US and Iran was at its peak, it is important to do a thorough investigation to unveil the real reason that has led to the crash of the plane.

The identities of the victims are expected to be released in the near future itself. The latest is the worst crash that has happened in the region in the near history.

Ayia Napa Case: Briton teenager gets four-month suspended sentence

A British teenager, who was charged with public mischief for falsely accusing a group of Israeli men with the charge of rape, has been handed a four-month suspended sentence by a court in Cyprus, where the incident happened.

The court has denied her justification that she was pressurised by the Cyprus police to give a false testimony against the group of Israeli.

The Cyprus police strongly condemned the clam made by the British girl, since the beginning.

Interestingly, several woman activists have gathered outside the court to express their solidarity with the British girl.

The girl is expected to be able to return to her home country within a couple of days.

The teenager has broken down with tears when the verdict has been announced by the court. Nonetheless, her family has expressed their happiness in the development.

The advocate who represents the teenager has asserted that he would continue his battle to help his client win justice.

The lawyer has indicted his intention to approach the Cyprus Supreme Court and even the European Union Human Rights Court when he has been enquired about his future steps by the media.

Cyprus was under serious pressure from the UK because of this case. The development has at least partially freed from that pressure.

Turkey to send in troops to protect UN-backed Govt. in Libya

The European country of Turkey is set to send in its military force to Libya to protect the UN-backed government in the war-affected country.

The Libyan government is fighting a rebel force led by General Khalifa Haftar. The government is backed by Turkey and Qatar, while the rebel force is backed by the UAE and Egypt.

The Turkey’s decision to send in its force may irritate the countries who support the rebel force led a war against the Libyan government.

At present, the Libyan government is very weak. In the recent past, the rebel force has made some significant gains.

Last week, in an attack carried out by the rebel force against a military academy controlled by the Libyan government, at least thirty people were killed.

The Turkey’s decision to send in its force to Libya has come after the resolution regarding the same was passed by the Turkish parliament.

With the development, what is clear is that what is waiting for the Middle East is a period of great disruption.

Only the future can tell how many countries will survive the period.

Spain: PM Sanchez wins support of Catalan separatist party

Paving the way for the formation of a coalition government, the biggest separatist party based in Catalonia has extended its support to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

The move has end the deadlock under which Spain was brought by an inconclusive election result.

The support means Spain can no longer look the question of the independence of Catalonia with disrespect.
