European Car Of The Year 2019 – Jaguar I-Pace
The Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV has won European Car of the Year 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show. This is the British manufacturer’s first all-electric car. This was incredibly a tight contest between Jaguar I-Pace and Renault’s Alpine sports coupe.
It competed over six other finalists including the Ford Focus, the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, and the Peugeot 508. The Alpine A110 comes in the second position after a very tight competition. The Kia Ceed occupied the third position and Ford Focus took the fourth place.
“For our first electric vehicle to also be the first Jaguar to win European Car of the Year gives us a huge sense of pride,” said Jaguar CEO Ralf Speth.
“This latest major award for I-PACE is something we can all be extremely proud of. This car was conceived, designed and engineered in Britain, so to have a selection of the nation’s leading automotive journalists vote it as the overall UK Car of the Year against some stiff competition is a special moment for us. What’s more, I-PACE has been a global sensation, picking up awards in 15 different countries; the British reputation for excellence in innovation and engineering is certainly alive and well.” said Rawdon Glover, Jaguar Land Rover UK MD.
